I have never been a very successful resolution-maker.  Usually by the end of January, my resolutions have fallen by the wayside.  So, this year, I will only make one so-called “resolution” — take the time every day to sit and listen to God’s Word.

I’d be lying if I said that make this a priority in my daily life.  I always mean to, but I let the things in my life overtake my time spent with the Lord.  And when I get a chance to just rest from all the craziness of my life, I park my butt on the sofa in front of the TV or stand at my counter in the kitchen staring blankly at my computer screen.  I am ashamed.

I thank God for another chance at making him a priority!

The LORD said, “Go out and stand on the mountain in the presence of the LORD, for the LORD is about to pass by.”  Then a great and powerful wind tore the mountains apart and shattered the rocks before the LORD, but the LORD was not in the wind.  After the wind there was an earthquake, but the LORD was not in the earthquake.  After the earthquake came a fire, but the LORD was not in the fire.  And after the fire came a gentle whisper.  When Elijah heard it, he pulled his cloak over his face…  –1 Kings 19:11-13
