Seven years ago, at this moment, I was standing in a church getting married to my husband.  Wow!  Seven years!

We had some very important Bible verses read at our wedding.  Brian’s confirmation passage — Commit your way to the LORD; trust in him and he will do this; (Psalm 37:5).  One of my favorite passages — The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house; yet it did not fall, because it had its foundation on the rock.  (Matthew 7:25)  And the sermon passage for our wedding — Though one may be overpowered, two can defend themselves.  A cord of three strands is not quickly broken.  (Ecclesiastes 4:12)

Brian and I had a chance to get out yesterday afternoon/evening by ourselves.  (Thanks Grandma!)  We went and had burgers and then went fishing in Brian’s canoe.  (We both caught a bass, by the way.  No, they were not big enough to keep, but awfully close!)  On the way out to the lake, we were talking about how it feels like we have been married for more than seven years.  The first couple of years really flew by and it was hard to believe that year one and two were gone already.  But with multiple moves and children and job changes thrown into the mix, it now feels like we have been married longer.  Not in a bad way, just that we have had SO many changes and gone in a direction we weren’t anticipating seven years ago, it feels like we have a few more years under the belt already.

We have been on a roller-coaster through nerve-wracking challenges and unbelievable blessings.  The two of us alone could not have made it through all of these twists and turns.  I am extremely blessed to have a Christian husband.  We have a shared faith and trust that God is the one in control of our lives and he will help us weather the difficult times and is the source of our blessings in the good times.  I thank God for my husband today (and everyday).

And thank you, Brian, for marrying me seven years ago.  You were an answer to my prayers.  🙂  I am looking forward to many more years to come!
