Dear Christian,

I’m sitting here on the couch next to you watching you sleep.  It’s the middle of the afternoon — I only hope that means you will still sleep tonight.  But I tend to abide by rule #1 — NEVER wake a sleeping baby!  🙂

I plan to write on occasion to you with some advice — things I’ve been told or learned through experience, so let me start with the most important thing —

Remember your Savior!  Your father and I gave you the name, Christian,  so that wherever you go in life you will remember that you belong to Christ.

Read the Bible everyday.  It is easy to put that off at times, but try not to.  It will be a guide and reassurance through tough times and a celebration through the happy ones.  Let me share with you one of my favorite Bible passages: Matthew 7:25 — “The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house; yet it did not fall because it had its foundation on the rock.”  Son, never forget that the rock to stand upon is your Lord and Savior.  With Him as your foundation you will never fall!

I love to watch you sleep.  You will understand that more someday when you have children of your own.

I look at you and wonder what great things you will do with your life, what you will look like, your personality, and if you’ll have your father’s red hair.  (Right now your hair is a light brown.)  I’m excited just thinking about what the future holds for you.  Your father and I will support you any way we can and until then we will hug you and hold you any time we can.  🙂

You are waking up from your lovely nap now.  I will write again another day.

All my love,  Mom
